Very slow service but we did swamp them a bit. A business built up heroically through many problems.

Hello, my name is James l am 75 years of age. I started my Railway Career at the age of 15 at Hunts Bank, as a messenger boy. My service with the railways spanned 15 years. In which time l experienced a whole variety of positions. Within the Lancashire area. Newton heath, Oldham and Rochdale. Engine cleaner, fireman (steam), second man ( diesels), Signal box lad, sigalman, permanent way relaying gang. Truly a wealth of experience and knowledge. My first encounter with the Jubilee refreshments room, was popping in for a cuppa tea and a bacon muffin. which was yummy. But what l found most was the friendliness, not only from the propriater but also from the few regular customers that were present. I visit regularly now as I have an interest in most of the meetings that take place. I hope to make a lot of new friends. James.
